When Becca called me to talk about her elopement in VA I was so excited since it was something I don't usually get to do. Typically my Saturday wedding days are filled with a lot of schedules, stress and sore feet. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and my wonderful wedding clients! It was just a nice break to photograph a wedding that was so low key and intimate.

As I drove from Winston Salem to Virginia I enjoyed the gorgeous NC and VA countryside on the backroads my GPS led me on. When I reached the gate to the Primland property it is so large that I still had 20 minutes of driving to go! Their 12,000 acres cover beautiful mountains, streams and vistas. Visitors can choose to stay in the impressive main lodge or in the cabins or romantic treehouses that are available to book. Originally Jon and Becca's ceremony was going to take place on the porch of one of the treehouses but it was moved to the mountain overlook in front of the main lodge due to threat of rain. Honestly I am glad it ended up being where it was because I cannot imagine a more perfect mountain view. 

After the ceremony we casually took portraits at the ceremony location with the lodge in the background. Oh, and the turkey? Well he/she showed up at the beginning of the ceremony and decided to stay and check it out and be an extra witness. 

Jon and Becca chose a naturally gorgeous location to celebrate their commitment and I am honored that I was chosen to document it.
