What type of equipment do you use?
I use Canon full frame digital cameras and lenses. While I do love shooting in natural light I do employ speedlights as external flashes when needed. For film I use a Canon 35mm body and a medium format Pentax 645n.
Yes. I shoot with two camera bodies, multiple external flashes and multiple lenses, batteries and SD cards.
Do you use a second photographer at your weddings?
It depends. I often photograph weddings by myself and am used to the fast paced, dynamic flow. I use a second photographer when one has been hired by my bride with her wedding day purchase. A second photographer is available for an extra $50/hr or comes as part of the all day package.
What happens if it rains on the day of my session?
I will be checking the weather on the days leading up to the session. If it looks like there is a high chance of rain we will reschedule at no cost to you.
Can I bring my camera and take pictures while you are shooting at my session?
The short answer is no, please do not. You are investing hard earned money to let me do the work, relax and just watch. Also, it can be confusing for the subject to know where to look and less distractions are best.
Can you help me decide what to wear for my session?
Yes! Becca's Pics has a Pinterest page with boards specifically for that: http://www.pinterest.com/beccaspics
What are some good area locations for my session?
Becca's Pics has a Pinterest board for that also! http://www.pinterest.com/beccaspics Aside from that, if needed, I can help you decide on a location and also send galleries of images taken at the same location and if possible, the same season.
How long will it be before my images are ready to view?
It all depends on how busy my workflow is at the time of your session. Normally I say 2-3 weeks for regular sessions and 8-12 weeks for weddings. The time can be shorter if it is in the off season.
What is the difference between the low resolution and high resolution images?
Becca's Pics gives the low resolution images with every session and wedding free of charge. They can be downloaded directly from your gallery. The low resolution images are very small files optimized and suitable for the internet - emailing, Facebook, Instagram, etc. You cannot make any type of prints from the low resolution images. If you would like to make your own prints, or album, or canvas then you will need to purchase the high resolution images. The high resolution images are much larger files that will look good when printed. When you receive your high resolution images, I will also give you a print release that you can print off if needed to prove you are allowed to print these and are not breaking any copyright laws. It is against the law to print any images that you do not have permission for. The high resolution images are available by download from your gallery for sessions and are included with any wedding purchase via flash drive.
What does my session fee cover?
Your session fee covers my time time corresponding to you about the session, driving to and from the session, taking the photographs during your scheduled time, editing your images and processing any orders. Of course a portion of your fee will go taxes and insurance. Once your images are processed you will receive a link and password to a private gallery on my website that contains your edited images. You can purchase professional prints and products from your gallery and anyone you share the link and password with can do the same.
How do I book you for my session or wedding?
Just send me an email and we will discuss dates and locations for sessions and I will get a contract out to you to book your session. If it is a wedding, we will set up a time to meet and discuss. Once I receive your contract and retainer, your wedding will be booked.
How much of a retainer do you require?
I require a 25% retainer for both weddings and regular sessions.
Yes.
What happens if you are sick or have an emergency on my wedding day?
I will be there unless I am incapable of movement! Of course there is always a chance that there is an extreme emergency and if that happens I will find someone equally as capable to photograph your wedding for you, you will not be left stranded. This is discussed in our contract, not only dealing with me the photographer but also the client and any emergencies they may have.
What is your photography style?
I do not have a clear label for my style but I guess by today's terms I would be considered more classic, light and airy, or fine art. When it comes down to it, I love capturing emotion. My day is complete when I can look at the images I took and see that I was able to capture the essence of that person or event. I am also more of a behind the scenes type person, I do not like to draw attention to myself although I will do what is needed to get a shot. I tend to be more photojournalistic and enjoy capturing details and telling the story of what was happening at that time.
I am interested in photography. Do you ever mentor anyone?
I do, I love connecting with others who share the same passion as I do and I love sharing and teaching what small amount I know! I have a page here dedicated to the mentoring opportunities that I offer.
Can I choose a location outside of the Winston-Salem area?
Yes, I will just ask for a reasonable mileage fee to cover gas and minor travel expenses. If it is for a wedding and will require an overnight trip then I will also ask for my lodging to be covered. Of course I am also always open to travel for designation weddings. Whether it is just for a regular session or wedding, just feel free to let me know what you are thinking about and the location and I can give you the appropriate mileage fee.
Do you shoot destination weddings or weddings outside of your state?
Yes, I am always very willing to shoot destination weddings or weddings outside of North Carolina! Lodging and travel would need to be included unless I am already going to be in the area. Depending on the location I may be willing to offer a discounted wedding rate for destination weddings, feel free to ask!
What types of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, checks, money orders, cashiers checks, debit cards, credit cards and Paypal.
